We previously saw claims of the Project Moohan, the Samsung mixed reality headset, launching on 29 September. That may have been true at some point, but that’s now claimed to not be happening on said date. A more recent report pins the launch as 22 October.
The claim comes from Korean news site ETNews, which says the initial plan was indeed to launch on 29 September. Then there’s the aforementioned October date, which was supposed to be when it will be available for purchase. Instead, the two dates got consolidated “due to internal marketing strategy coordination and quality assurance”, according to machine translation of the report.
All that being said, supply of the Samsung mixed reality headset will be pretty limited. The report says that “shipments are expected to be around 100,000 units”. This number may be adjusted later depending on the initial market demand. No real way for the average consumer to take a guess as to whether that will happen, as its specs will naturally only be revealed on launch.
As an aside, the report also mentions possible launch windows for the Samsung tri-fold, rumoured to be called either the Galaxy G Fold or Galaxy Z Trifold. We’ve seen prior claims of an October launch, but the report says that it will get a separate launch event. It could still be within October, but there’s also a chance it may happen at the end of November.
