Previously, serial leakster @UniverseIce claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have thicker camera bump than its predecessor. This is in exchange for making the rest of the phone thinner. But more recently, the leakster says that not only is the camera bump thicker, the camera with telephoto zoom capabilities may also be worse.
On X, said leakster shared that the camera in question is a 10MP f/2.4 1/3.94 unit. Pixel size is also noted as measuring 1 micrometre. So overall this is noted to be smaller than what was used in the S25 Ultra, in both sensor size and pixel size. In a reply to a comment, he says the sensor is actually a 12MP unit, but only 10MP being usable. Though this isn’t exactly new, as the current model does the same.

In other words, you a smaller sensor with smaller pixels, which leads to less light being taken it. This then leads to poorer performance overall. And you get less pixels to top it all off. Even if this gets compensated on the software side of things, the older model will still get the performance edge once it gets updated to also run the new software.
On one hand, this leakster has sort of made a name for themselves with their Samsung-related leaks. But on the other, they are ultimately still leaks, and there’s plenty of time for things to change. After all, it won’t be until next year’s first Unpacked when the company shows off the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
