U Mobile has enabled its ULTRA5G network at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur (MO), marking the first hotel in Malaysia to feature its next-gen 5G coverage on every floor. The deployment was carried out with support from national digital infrastructure partner, EDOTCO, which provided the in-building coverage (IBC) infrastructure to enable seamless connectivity throughout the property.
According to the telco, guests and visitors subscribed to its plans will be able to experience the ULTRA5G network across all areas of the hotel, including ballrooms, meeting rooms, event venues, and shared guest spaces. The installation ensures uninterrupted high-speed connectivity that caters to both leisure and business travellers. As before, those subscribed will notice “UM ULTRA5G” displayed as the network name on their devices once they are connected.
U Mobile said its collaboration with EDOTCO at Mandarin Oriental is part of a wider rollout of ULTRA5G at high-impact locations nationwide. Both companies plan to extend the initiative to airports, hospitals, and convention centres in the future, with the goal of achieving 80% coverage of populated areas (CoPA) by the second half of 2026.
The telco also noted that the announcement builds on its recognition of EDOTCO as one of its preferred IBC partners at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. The latter’s neutral-host model is expected to speed up deployment, avoid asset duplication, and provide a shared platform for building owners and technology providers.

This latest deployment follows U Mobile’s earlier introductions of ULTRA5G at several key sites across Malaysia. Among them are Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, Penang Bridge 1, Putrajaya and Kota Kinabalu, with more locations set to be announced as the network continues to expand.
