Apart from the base and all-new Air model, Apple has also officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max during its “Awe Dropping” keynote today. As revealed by the company, the duo is its latest flagship smartphones with a redesigned aluminium unibody, improved thermal performance, and the new A19 Pro processor.
Both models feature a brushed aerospace-grade aluminium design incorporating an Apple-engineered vapour chamber to enhance sustained performance and efficiency. This new structure accommodates a larger battery, which the company claims delivers its longest-ever battery life on an iPhone. Charging supports 50% capacity in 20 minutes when paired with the company’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with Super Retina XDR displays in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, respectively. Protected by Ceramic Shield 2 on both front and back, the panels offer up to 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness, 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and Always-On capabilities. Apple says the new glass coating provides triple the scratch resistance and four times the crack resistance compared to previous models.
Performance is powered by the A19 Pro chip, which Apple claims delivers up to 40% better sustained performance than its predecessor. The 6-core CPU and GPU, coupled with a new 16-core Neural Engine, support hardware-accelerated ray tracing and AAA mobile gaming. A new wireless chip, dubbed N1, enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity, while also improving hotspot and AirDrop reliability.

On the camera front, the iPhone 17 Pro series introduces three 48MP Fusion rear cameras covering main, ultra-wide, and a new telephoto unit. The telephoto sensor supports up to 8x optical zoom, the longest yet on an iPhone, while digital zoom extends up to 40x. The front-facing Centre Stage camera has been upgraded to an 18MP sensor, offering wider views, improved stabilisation, and dual capture for simultaneous front-and-back recording.
Video capabilities have also been enhanced, with support for ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock for multi-camera synchronisation. These tools are aimed at professional filmmakers, building on existing features such as Dolby Vision HDR, 4K120 recording, and ProRes Log.

The devices ship with iOS 26, which introduces Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation, visual search from screenshots, and new privacy-focused communication tools. The updated interface incorporates a “Liquid Glass” design for more expressive visuals, alongside improvements across apps like Maps, Music, and a new Apple Games hub.

The devices are set to be available in Malaysia starting 19 September, with pre-orders opening on 12 September. The iPhone 17 Pro is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants, starting from RM5,499, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is offered in capacities up to 2TB, starting from RM5,999. Both models come in three finishes: Deep Blue, Cosmic Orange, and Silver.
