Garmin has officially announced the Fenix 8 MicroLED for the Malaysian market. It is essentially the same device as the 51mm MicroLED variant of the Fenix 8 Pro series that was announced globally earlier today, only marketed locally under a slightly different name. However, unlike the global model, there is no mention of LTE or satellite connectivity support for the local release.
To recap, the watch offers a 1.4-inch MicroLED display, a first in the smartwatch segment, and is capable of delivering up to 4,500 nits of brightness. Garmin says the panel features over 400,000 individual LEDs, with a colour gamut around 15% wider than before, six times greater contrast, and enhanced burn-in resistance.

The Fenix 8 MicroLED comes with scratch-resistant glass, a titanium bezel and leak-proof buttons. Water resistance is rated at 10ATM, making it suitable for swimming, snorkelling and other water-based activities.
In terms of performance and features, the watch includes 32GB of storage, a built-in speaker and microphone for voice commands, voice messaging, and phone calls when paired with a smartphone, and an integrated LED flashlight with variable intensities, a red safety light, and even a strobe mode that syncs with running cadence. Health and wellness tools cover heart rate, sleep tracking, ECG (where supported), training readiness, endurance score, and hill score, alongside preloaded maps for navigation, golf, and skiing.
Battery life is rated at up to 10 days in smartwatch mode, though the local spec sheet does not specify runtimes with the Always-on Display enabled. For comparison, the global MicroLED model is estimated to last about four days with AOD active.
One notable omission for Malaysia is connectivity support. Globally, the Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED includes LTE-M cellular and InReach satellite messaging features, allowing users to send texts, location updates, SOS alerts, and even voice snippets without a phone. These services, however, require subscriptions and rely on coverage that is not currently available in Malaysia. As such, Garmin’s local launch makes no mention of LTE or satellite functions.

The Garmin Fenix 8 MicroLED is slated to be available in Malaysia from October 2025, priced at RM8,479. It will be sold through the brand’s e-store, Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores, and authorised retailers nationwide. There’s no word on whether the non-MicroLED 47mm and 51mm variants will see a release locally.
