In conjunction with World EV Day, the national post and parcel service provider Pos Malaysia Berhad has officially received 136 all-electric Maxus eDeliver 3 and eDeliver 5 vans. The handover was conducted by Weststar Maxus in collaboration with leasing partner Yinson GreenTech.
These new vehicles expand Pos Malaysia’s electric fleet, which as of today comprises of 1,252 e-bikes and 264 electric vans. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, while supporting Malaysia’s ambition to achieve a low-carbon, energy-efficient future.
The new e-vans comprise 131 units of the Maxus eDeliver 3 and 5 units of the eDeliver 5. The eDeliver 3 is powered by a motor producing 90 kW and 255 Nm of torque, while the eDeliver 5 features a 120 kW motor with 240 Nm of torque. Their top speeds are rated at 130 km/h and 125 km/h, respectively.
In terms of battery capacity, the eDeliver 3 is equipped with a 50.23 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 200 km, while the eDeliver 5 comes with a larger 64 kWh battery, extending the range to 250 km. For charging, the eDeliver 3 requires around 7 hours for a full charge with AC charging, compared to 9 hours for the eDeliver 5.
According to Pos Malaysia Berhad’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Charles Brewer, this fleet of EVs will also be available in East Malaysia locations. “And for the first time, we will be deploying these all-electric vehicles to our East Malaysia locations, ensuring that our electric vehicles now serve the rakyat across the entire nation,” he said.
He added that the new e-vans are equipped with enhanced features designed to make each route more efficient and every delivery a smoother experience. According to Pos Malaysia, each electric van helps reduce up to 1.11 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, lowering both the carbon footprint per parcel and the overall cost per delivery.
To date, the company’s electric vehicles have collectively travelled more than 7.2 million kilometres in emissions-free last-mile deliveries; equivalent to circling the globe 179 times. This initiative forms part of Pos Malaysia’s broader strategy to fully electrify its fleet and achieve 100% green first- and last-mile deliveries by 2030, in line with its long-term decarbonisation goals.
Looking ahead, Pos Malaysia plans to further expand its EV fleet from 2026 onwards, as it works towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2050. The company is also exploring strategic partnerships in renewable energy charging infrastructure, route optimisation, and carbon reporting tools to support this transition.
