Local owners of Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20,000mAh (Integrated Cable) take note. The company has issued a recall notice for the product in Malaysia due to fire risks linked to potential hardware defects.
In a notice published on its website, Xiaomi Malaysia said that a small batch of Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20,000mAh (model: PB2030MI) manufactured between August and September 2024 may malfunction under certain usage scenarios. These include battery overheating, which could pose a fire hazard.
While the number of reported incidents is small, Xiaomi has initiated a recall to maintain product quality standards. The company explained that the problem was traced back to issues with raw materials supplied during production.
Owners of affected units are advised to return their device to Xiaomi. To check whether a power bank is part of the recall, users can enter its serial number on the official recall page. The company notes that the SN code location may differ between product versions and can usually be found on the back of the device.
