Intel is expected to launch its Arrow Lake-S Refresh CPU lineup by the end of this year, and information about its successor, Nova Lake, remains scarce. Having said that, a new leak with the latter’s name has appeared on a shipping manifest and is mentioned multiple times.
The shipping manifest points to a Nova Lake S CPU, with the S in its suffix denoting that it is a desktop processor. What is more interesting is that the “28C” in all the entries seems to suggest that the processor in question bears 28 cores. Further, the processors bear the label “Pre-QS”, the QS standing for Qualification Sample. In other words, these CPUs are likely early-stage engineering samples, used for testing.

This isn’t the first time Intel has announced and launched a 28-core CPU. In fact, the first time the existence of a 28-core processor came to light was all the way back during Computex 2018, although it was later made clear that the processor wouldn’t be for the general consumer.
In addition to the voluminous core count, there are also other rumours that Intel could stack the top-tier version of this alleged Nova Lake with larger than average cache, similar to what AMD did with its 3D V-Cache lineup. In Intel’s case? That rumour is pointing to a massive 288MB L3 Cache, which is three times the amount of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Beyond the manifest, there are no further details about the alleged Nova Lake CPU. Considering that the lineup isn’t expected until sometime later next year, we suspect that Intel is going to stay mum on the subject until then. As such, we will suggest that you limit your sodium intake for now.
