Though we are still months away from the release of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, it was only a matter of time before rumours and leaks began to crop up. On top of its quad-camera setup, it is rumoured that the upcoming flagship device will be launching with a new 200MP sensor on top of other camera upgrades. It’s a significant improvement compared to the OPPO Find X8‘s 50MP camera.
The news was first reported on Weibo by a well-known Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station. In addition to that main camera upgrade, the leakster also reported that the handheld will also receive an upgraded telephoto sensor, around 1/1.28-inch, with an alleged “ultra-large aperture” for improved low-light photography.
Additionally, it was also said that the smartphone will have a “multi-spectral camera” for more accurate colour calibration when snapping photos. Interestingly enough, the tipster goes on to say that other companies might start adding this feature to their own respective flagship models. Currently, only OPPO and Huawei are offering this functionality.
However, this news should be taken with a grain of salt, as these reports were based on a prototype version of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra. Despite the leaks, this means possible future spec changes, be they external or internal, as we move closer to the device’s release window. It is also worth mentioning that the OPPO Find X8 Ultra was released this April. If the X9 Ultra were to follow the same release window, it would mean that we still have plenty of time for more news about the device to come in.
