Toyota is set to introduce the Vios Hybrid in Thailand (known as the Yaris Ativ there) on August 21, 2025. This marks a new addition to the line-up, three years after the sedan’s debut in the neighbouring country.
In terms of design, there are not many differences, as it still retains the same grille with horizontal lines, sharp headlights, and L-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, it continues with the rectangular-shaped tail lights integrated into a boxy rear design, complemented by air fenders at the sides.

Inside, the cabin carries forward the same overall design and features. However, the infotainment system appears slightly larger and could receive an upgrade. It now supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the car features a two-tone colour scheme, while the leather seats come with diamond-patterned stitching. The cabin is also enhanced with 64 ambient lighting colours.
The main highlight of the new Vios is its 1.5-litre full hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) system. This hybrid powertrain is derived from the Toyota Yaris Cross, though it has been tweaked to suit the Vios’ performance requirements. It combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC petrol engine with a 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 111 horsepower and 262 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels through an automatic e-CVT transmission. The car has a top speed of 160 km/h and achieves a fuel consumption rate of 26.3 km per litre.

Other features include a push start button, smart keyless system, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), and Automatic High Beam (AHB). In terms of safety, the Vios Hybrid is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which consists of features such as a Pre-Collision System with automatic braking, Lane Departure Warning with steering assist, Front Departure Alert, and Pedal Misoperation Control. It also offers a 360-degree surround-view camera.
At present, details such as pricing and availability in Malaysia have yet to be revealed by Toyota. Nevertheless, should the Toyota Vios Hybrid be introduced locally, it could be a direct competitor to the Honda City e:HEV RS.
