BYD is beefing up “what is already a beast” by introducing the track version of the Yangwang U9. This information was released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
From the pictures that were shared, it seems like there is not much difference in the design to the original, apart from some additional fittings. The automaker has fitted a carbon fibre rear wing with the option of an active electric rear wing. The rear is also fitted with a diffuser with adjustable blades. Completing the car is a carbon fibre roof and 20-inch wheels. Additionally, the customers have the option of an enhanced front splitter.

The measurements of the car differ according to the package. Length-wise, it can be either 4,966 mm or 4,991 mm, while height is either 1,311 mm or 1,351 mm. As for the width and wheelbase, they stay constant for all the packages at 2,092 mm and 2,900 mm respectively. As for the interior, the information has yet to be revealed by MIIT or the automaker.
However, the specifications of the U9 track edition’s powertrain have been revealed and it seems like the supercar has been given a dose of steroids. The track edition features four electric motors, each of them fitted on each wheel of the EV, and with an output of 555 kW individually. Together, it produces 2,220 kW of power and a top speed of 350 km/h. Just for comparison, the current version of the BYD Yangwang U9 has an output of 960 kW.

As for the battery and charging details, once again they are not available at the moment. However, from the information that has been revealed so far, we can expect the track edition to use the same battery as the current U9 or an enhanced version of it.
For reference, the current U9 comes with an 80 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that has a CLTC range of 450 km. It can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes using a 500 kW DC charger.
