GAC Malaysia recently launched a roadshow at One Utama Shopping Centre from 6 to 10 August, where they are showcasing the locally assembled C-segment SUV, Emkoo, and the M8 PHEV. Both these cars are making an appearance for the second time to the public. The Emkoo was first unveiled at the PACE Autoshow, while the M8 was unveiled at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS2025). Furthermore, in conjunction with the roadshow, today GAC also announced its second brand ambassador, the well-renowned Malaysian actor, Datuk Remy Ishak.
The M8 PHEV comes in two variants: Premium and Luxury. Both these models are expected to come with a selling price of RM333,000 and RM380,000 respectively. It comes with a large grille paired with large headlights and daytime running lights that look like they are from the Transformers movie. At the rear, it has full-width taillights with an L-shaped design.
The M8 PHEV offers seating for seven, featuring two luxurious captain’s chairs in the second row, each equipped with a built-in ottoman and five-inch armrest screens.The cabin also comes with a 15.6-inch roof-mounted display. Up front, the driver’s cockpit is fitted with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch infotainment display, while a premium 16-speaker Yamaha audio system delivers immersive sound throughout the cabin. Other features include massaging, memory, ventilation, and power-adjustable functions.
In terms of performance, the MPV comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with a motor powered by a 25.57kWh battery. Together, the PHEV delivers 373PS and 630Nm of torque and takes 8.8 seconds to complete the century sprint.
As for the Emkoo, it also comes in two variants: Premium and Premium Pro, with an expected price of RM120,000 and RM130,000 respectively. It has a 1.5TGDI engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that has an output of 177PS and 270Nm. The SUV is backed by a 5-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, along with a 7-year or 180,000km engine and powertrain warranty, whichever comes first.
Both these models are expected to be launched by the end of the year. They are available for booking, and those interested can view them during the roadshow.
