Apple typically releases its new smartphones in September. While the company has yet to officially announce when it will host the launch event for the iPhone 17 lineup, it seems that the date has been leaked. If the leak proves to be accurate, then the phones will make their debut on Tuesday, 9 September 2025.
According to iPhone-ticker.de, this information comes from German mobile carriers. The report also claims that the phones will be available for purchase starting 19 September, which is the week after the event. This is usually how Apple handles its iPhone releases.

The rumour also lines up with a previous claim by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Back in July, Gurman reported that Apple might hold the iPhone 17 launch event on the week of 8 September. He further narrowed it down to either 8, 9, or 10 September, as the bitten fruit company avoids hosting launch events on Fridays. 11 September is also an unlikely date for obvious reasons.
While Apple might be sticking with tradition when it comes to the release date, the company may be shaking things up a little with the actual phones. The brand is expected to launch the base iPhone 17 as well as the Pro and Pro Max variants as usual.

However, an all-new iPhone 17 Air will be replacing the Plus model. Various rumours and leaks have claimed that this device will feature a slim and lightweight body. It also reportedly sports a meagre battery capacity compared to other modern smartphones.
Of course, until we hear directly from Apple, it is wise to take information on the upcoming smartphones with a grain of salt. Either way, it probably won’t be a long wait until the phones officially debut.
