Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A17 in select countries in Europe. The device is the brand’s latest entry-level 5G smartphone that’s also expected to arrive in other markets, including Malaysia.
For starters, according to its listing in France and Spain, the Samsung Galaxy A17 offers a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 px resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 800 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, a USB-C port, as well as IP54 dust and water resistance.
Under its hood is a first-party Exynos 1330 chipset, which is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The latter is expandable via a microSD card slot. Battery-wise, the Galaxy A17 packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging support.
As for imaging, on the back of the phone is a 50MP primary camera, paired with a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. Found in front is a 13MP selfie snapper, housed within a water-drop notch on the display.

On the software front, preinstalled on the Galaxy A17 is Samsung’s One UI 7 interface that’s based on Android 15. The listings add that the phone will receive six OS updates and six years of security patches.
In select European markets, the Samsung Galaxy A17 is priced at EUR230 (~RM1,127) for the 4GB + 128GB configuration and EUR309 (~RM1,515) for the 8GB + 256GB. Colour options include Black, Blue, and Gray.
As previously mentioned, the phone is expected to launch in Malaysia soon. While Samsung has yet to make an official announcement, the Galaxy A17 has already been spotted in SIRIM’s database. Additionally, a placeholder support page for the device is now live on Samsung Malaysia’s website.
