As we reported, BYD launched the Sealion 06 EV and DM-i in China yesterday on 24 July 2025. There are a total of five variants of the car; three of which are EVs, while the other two are plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
In terms of design, the Sealion 06 comes with parallell split headlights which – although stylish – still give off a slightly eerie vibe. The SUV also features a front grille that has been given the split treatment as well.

At the rear, it features a full-width taillight resembling an infinity symbol. Furthermore, the rear is equipped with a roof spoiler and an electric tailgate. Finally, the 19-inch wheels complete the exterior.
Inside, the car is fitted with a 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen and an instrument cluster featuring a 26-inch HUD display. Other features include a refrigerator capable of cooling down to -6 degrees Celsius, and 12 Dynaudio speakers with 360-degree surround sound. According to the automaker, the SUV offers more legroom and headroom, along with a boot capacity of up to 1,630 litres and a frunk with 142 litres of space.

Now, moving to the powertrain, as mentioned above, the EV version comes in three variants, while the PHEV has two options. The EV variant is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo and offers a choice between three powertrains. The first is a single motor with an output of 170 kW (EV 550), powered by a 78.72 kWh Blade battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 605 km. It completes the century sprint in 7.5 seconds.
For more power, there’s the 180 kW (EV 610) single-motor option paired with a 65.28 kWh battery, which also delivers a CLTC range of 605 km. This variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

The EV SUV is also available in an all-wheel-drive configuration (EV 610 AWD) with front and rear motors producing 110 kW and 180 kW of power, respectively. It is paired with either a 65.28 kWh or 78.72 kWh Blade battery pack and has CLTC ranges of 520 km, 550 km, and 605 km, depending on the configuration. This variant completes the century sprint in 4.9 seconds.
For the DM-i, which is the plug-in hybrid variant, it features a 1.5L engine with an output of 74 kW and an electric motor producing 160 kW. The battery options include an 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh Blade battery pack, offering a pure electric range of 93 km and 130 km, respectively. Both variants are equipped with the “God’s Eye” C advanced driving assistance system and BYD’s seven-in-one integrated power control system.
