The national carmaker has finally launched the facelifted Proton X50 after much teasing and preview. This SUV now comes with a starting price of RM89,800, offering a redesigned and more powerful version than its predecessor. It is available in three variants: Executive, Premium, and Flagship.

As we reported previously, the Proton X50 features a new front grille and bumper, which gives the SUV a much more aggressive stance. The new angular and sharper headlights with multi-reflector LED elements enhance the sportiness of the car. The LED daytime running lights are now integrated above the headlights.

At the rear, the tail lights are connected by a striking full-width LED light bar, creating a cohesive and bold visual. A distinctive three-stripe LED signature on each side adds a modern, high-tech flair.

However, the Premium variant comes with roof rails, a power tailgate, and front welcome lamps. The Flagship, on the other hand, gets a sporty spoiler and dual-tone exterior. As for wheel size, both these variants get 18-inch wheels, while the Executive gets 17-inch wheels. Furthermore, in terms of exterior colours, the Proton X50 is available in Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, Armour Silver, and Teal Bayou Green.

The interior has been completely redesigned, now offering a more driver-focused layout compared to the pre-facelift model. At the centre is a 14.6-inch infotainment display with support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an 8.88-inch instrument cluster. Notably, it also introduces voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu, named Aisyah — the first in Malaysia, which is available for all three variants.

The Premium variant will have 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting, leatherette seats, and a six-way driver power seat. As for the Flagship, it is equipped with a dual-tone exterior, a semi-transparent visor, a wireless charger, and a panoramic sunroof.

The biggest change is in the powertrain, where the three-cylinder engine has been replaced with the four-cylinder i-GT 1.5 TD engine. It has an output of 178 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, and completes the century sprint in 7.6 seconds. This powertrain will be available for all three variants.

The facelifted Proton X50 also features Level 2 ADAS for safety. This incorporates a 360-degree HD camera with a 180-degree transparent view of the undercarriage, an enhanced Auto Park Assist (APA) system, and the Rear Side Radar System (RSRS). The SUV also comes with six SRS airbags.

As mentioned above, the starting price is RM89,800 for the Executive variant. The Premium will cost RM101,800, while the Flagship comes with a price tag of RM113,300. Additionally, for the first 10,000 customers who register the car by 31 October 2025, they will receive a RM4,000 rebate. This rebate applies to all variants, making the prices RM85,800, RM97,800, and RM109,300, respectively.

Not only that, the first 10,000 customers will also receive a five-year warranty for unlimited mileage, six free services, a five-year 2GB per month in-car data package, trade-in support up to RM2,000, and an upgraded Proton insurance programme. Additionally, they will also receive five and seven-year loans capped at 2.35% p.a. and 2.38% p.a., respectively.
