After a series of teasers, BYD has finally launched the Atto 2 in the Malaysian market. The B-segment compact SUV is offered in only one variant, unlike the two variants available in China. Nevertheless, it seems that Malaysia is getting the best end of the deal in terms of performance.
Before we explore why, let us see what the car has to offer design-wise. On the exterior, the Atto 2 features sleek LED headlights, a slim strip of daytime running lights, and gloss black accents that enhance its sporty appeal. At the rear, a striking full-width LED light bar with a distinctive ‘Infinity Ring’ pattern gives the SUV a unique visual signature. Furthermore, it comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin is both modern and tech-forward. It boasts a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch LCD digital instrument cluster. The SUV has also been integrated with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats are upholstered in synthetic leather, and it comes with ventilated front seats. Other features include wireless charging, voice command, and ample legroom and headroom.
Under the hood, the Atto 2 is powered by a single electric motor delivering 130 kW (174 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, completing the century sprint in 7.2 seconds. Furthermore, we are getting a bigger battery pack of 51.13 kWh BYD Blade Battery with an NEDC range of up to 410 km. With an 82 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 37 minutes. As for the AC charger, it supports up to 7 kW. The SUV comes with four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow.
Now, coming to the price, the BYD Atto 2 is offered for RM100,000. It comes with complimentary accessories including a vehicle-to-load (V2L) charger which supports up to 3.3 kW, and a Type 2 charging cable with a 3-pin plug. Additionally, it comes with a six-year/160,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty, and an eight-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty.
The first 800 customers will receive an Easy Ownership Package worth RM13,500. The package includes RM0 installment payments for the first six months. For landed property owners, a free wall charger is included. As for high-rise residents, they will receive the Sime Platinum 4+ Package by Power Up. This is a 12-month subscription that includes:

- 2x Car Handwash, Vacuum, and Tireshine per month
- 2x Free EV Rescue service per year
