BYD Sime Motors has announced the debut of its new model in the Malaysian market, the Atto 2. The compact SUV is set to be launched on 24 July 2025, while the public viewing will be available from 25–27 July 2025 at the Heritage Valley, Kuala Lumpur, from 9am to 7pm.
However, the question still remains on the specifications that will be available in the Malaysian market. As previously reported, it is expected that the car in two variants, Active and Boost, based on its initial launch in China.
In terms of design, the front fascia comes with sharp LED headlights and a thin bar of daytime-running lights. It also comes with a gloss black trim. At the rear, the prominent full-width LED light bar is featured with a ‘Chinese Knot’ pattern.
Inside, the Atto 2 is expected to feature a modern cabin equipped with a floating 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen and an 8.8-inch LCD digital instrument cluster. The seats are upholstered in eco-friendly vegan leather, with the front seats offering electronic adjustment for added comfort. A panoramic sunroof further enhances the sense of space and openness in the cabin.
For the powertrain, the Atto 2 features a single motor that is powered by a 45.12 kWh battery. The car outputs 130 kW and 290 Nm of torque. Also, it supports 65 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 37 minutes. When using an 11 kW AC wall box, a full charge takes approximately 5.5 hours.
As mentioned above, these are the specifications from the Atto 2’s launch in China, while the official spec will only be revealed during the local launch. Additionally, BYD Sime Motors have opened the ROI (Registration of Interest).

Also, during the public viewing, test drives for the Atto 2 along with other BYD models are available. The company says that visitors can also enjoy exclusive launch offers and giveaways during the event. Carpy, BYD’s new Capybara mascot, will make an appearance as well.
