In conjunction with the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, three highways and 15 major roads in the Klang Valley will be closed in stages from today (8 July) until Friday (11 July). This was made known by the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department’s official page on Facebook.
The three highways that is involved in this closure are, Maju expressway KLIA–Putrajaya stretch of the North–South Expressway Central Link (ELITE Highway), and Sungai Besi–Kuala Lumpur stretch of the KL–Seremban Highway. Meanwhile the 15 roads that are:
- Lebuh KLIA
- Lingkaran Putrajaya
- Jalan Istana
- Jalan Damansara
- Jalan Tun Abdul Razak;
- Jalan Ampang; Jalan Sultan Ismail
- Jalan Bukit Bintang; Jalan Imbi
- Persimpangan Jalan Ampang/Jalan P Ramlee
- Persimpangan Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan P Ramlee
- Persimpangan Jalan Perak/Jalan P Ramlee
- Persimpangan Jalan Perak/Jalan Pinang
- Persimpangan Jalan Stonor/Jalan Kia Peng
- Persimpangan Jalan Stonor/Persiaran KLCC.

Road closures will begin today from 10:00 AM, with additional staged closures starting at 5:00 PM. On 9 July, closures will take place twice—at 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. On 10 July, there will be four closures at 7:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 10:00 PM. On the final day, road closures will occur once only, at 7:00 AM.
During these periods, the public is strongly advised to plan their journeys ahead and opt for public transport whenever possible. Commercial and heavy vehicles are urged to avoid entering Kuala Lumpur city centre during closure times and peak hours to help ease congestion and minimize the risk of vehicle damage and accidents.
Furthermore, a motorcade dry run was conducted from 4 to 6 July, covering routes from the airports to designated hotels in Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The exercise involved a total of 391 traffic police personnel and officers, ensuring smooth coordination and readiness ahead of the official event.
