Rumour has it that DJI is gearing up to launch an Osmo 360 action camera by this year. The device would be the brand’s first-ever action camera with a 360-degree view, and will be a direct competitor to the GoPro Max2 and Insta360 X5.
Specs-wise, the Osmo 360 is expected to ship out with a 1-inch CMOS camera sensor, capable of capturing images at 120MP. Additionally, the action camera is expected to provide up to 180 minutes runtime, while recording and capturing 8K video at 30fps.
Adding on to the list, the Osmo 360 also supports 1-bit colour depth, both in 360-degree and standard videos. In single-lens mode, it will be able to capture 4K video at 120fps with a 170° FOV, or switch over to 5K at 60fps with a 155° super-wide FOV.
The Osmo 360 will also reportedly feature software such as HorizonSteady, which is designed to maximise image stability, support Apple Watch and Garmin integrations, as well as gesture and voice controls for hands-free use. Accessory-wise, it looks like the DJI action camera will likely include a Battery extension Bar, a 1/4-inch threaded magnetic quick-release accessory mount with magnetic charging, plus a few more batteries for the long-haul.
As for the exact date of launch, sources speculate that the Osmo 360 this month, specifically by the end of July. The official pricing of the camera is also still up in the wind, but it’s a given that it won’t come cheap.
