Chinese automaker Chery has announced the upcoming Malaysian launch of its Tiggo Cross model. According to its Facebook page, the facelifted SUV is set to arrive in five days time, falling on next Wednesday on 8 July 2025.
As you may recall, the Tiggo Cross was first shown at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025) back in May. It was then previewed to the media last month.
To recap, the upcoming SUV comes with a large grille with black inserts. It also has reshaped LED headlamps and a sharper bumper design. The rear features a full-width LED taillight bar, roof spoiler and roof rails.
The cabin of the Tiggo Cross comes with a dual 10.25-inch screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The seats are covered in aux leather upholstery, while the interior comes with ambient lighting. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Tiggo Cross is offered with two powertrain options: Hybrid and Turbo. The hybrid variant features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 102 PS and 125 Nm, paired with two electric motors that add 204 PS and 310 Nm. This setup is matched with a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and is built on Chery’s Super Hybrid Platform (CSH). On the other hand, the turbo variant has the same engine that puts out 147 PS and 210 Nm.
In terms of safety, the hybrid comes with a comprehensive safety and driver assistance suite. It has seven airbags and an ADAS package including features like rear cross traffic braking, traffic jam assist, lane centring assist and many more. These systems are backed by a 540-degree camera for enhanced visibility in tight spots. Meanwhile, the turbo variant has six airbags and ADAS functions.
Additionally, both variants will be locally assembled, which could mean that the line-up may launch below RM100,000. Whether or not this would be the case, we will have to wait until next week for more details to be revealed.
