National carmaker Proton has previewed the all-new Proton X50, which ia basically the facelifted version of the previous model. The automaker announced that the SUV features an updated design, upgraded ADAS Level 2 features, and, for the first time ever, voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu.
In terms of design, the X50 features a redesigned front grille and bumper. The headlights are more angular and sharper, and appear to incorporate multi-reflector LED elements. These are accompanied by integrated LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
The tail lights span the rear with a full-width LED light bar, seamlessly connecting both sides for a bold, unified look. The three-stripe LED signature on each side adds a futuristic touch. The rear also features a spoiler and quad exhaust tailpipes.
Inside, the cabin has been upgraded to be more driver-focused, starting with a 14.6-inch infotainment display that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and, as mentioned above, voice recognition in Bahasa Melayu. Additionally, the interior is finished with soft-touch materials, a floating floor console, and 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting.
As for the powertrain, the new X50 features an i-GT 1.5 TD engine with an output of 178 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. All of this power is managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing the car to complete the century sprint in 7.6 seconds – 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor. This powertrain will be available across the three variant – Executive, Premium and Flagship
In terms of safety, as mentioned above, the Proton X50 comes with level 2 ADAS features. This includes the Rear Side Radar System (RSRS), an improved Auto Park Assist (APA) system, and a 360-degree HD camera with a 180-degree undercarriage transparent view.

Regarding pricing, the automaker has yet to reveal this information. However, Proton has confirmed that the new Proton X50 is set to be launched soon, and customers can register their interest on Proton’s official website. Additionally, this is not only the big news from Proton, as they are announcing something new tomorrow as well.
