Rapid KL operator Prasarana and Touch ‘n Go (TnG) today have officially announced the upcoming implementation of the My50 monthly public transport pass to Touch ‘n Go NFC cards. This will allow users to not only utilise the pass via their cards, but also renew it via the TnG eWallet app. The full implementation is set to go live next week on 1 July 2025.
In order to utilise this new addition, you need to have several things ready beforehand. An NFC TnG card is one of them, along with an NFC-enabled smartphone with the TnG eWallet app installed. It should be noted that the account used for the digital wallet must be eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verified.
How To Activate
- First, launch the TnG eWallet app and ensure your eKYC is completed if you haven’t done so already.
- My50 activation will be available via the Travel Pass sub-app, which is available via the TnG eWallet’s home screen or the Transport section of its All Services page.
- Next, tap your preferred TnG NFC card onto your phone, choose the Travel Pass My50 option, and select your desired activation date.
- After agreeing to the terms and conditions, proceed to make the payment.
- Finally, tap the same TNG card on your phone again to complete the activation process.
Things To Note
- Much like the MyKad version, the My50 pass access on TnG cards are only available to Malaysian users – hence the eKYC requirement.
- Each TnG eWallet account is only permitted one TnG card for the pass.
- A minimum card balance of RM5 is required for renewals.
- Alternatively, you can also assign the My50 pass on TnG NFC charms.

While this implementation will conveniently allow commuters to skip the queue and easily renew their passes directly through the TnG eWallet, the same can’t be said to those who are still relying on their MyKads. Unfortunately, these users are still required to renew their My50 passes via station counters, as the TnG eWallet renewal function does not support the national identity card.
Speaking to TnG representatives present at the launch event earlier today, we’re told that there are no plans to introduce My50 renewals for MyKads via the TnG eWallet app at this time. One of the plausible factors preventing this is likely due to older NFC chips used on most NRICs, which might not support newer features.
It should be noted that you can actually renew the My50 pass online via the MyRapid website, as well as its Pulse mobile app. However, you are still required to verify and activate it through a counter, so chances are you’ll end up queuing at the stations anyway.
