Earlier in the month, vivo teased the compatibility between the X Fold5 and the Apple Watch, something that is pretty novel among devices not made by Apple. The device has since been unveiled in its home market, with the aforementioned Apple ecosystem compatibility being quite the central selling point, beyond just being a foldable.

According to machine translation of the brand’s post on Chinese social media Weibo, the vivo X Fold5 can have its files accessed by a Mac via Finder, and vice versa. This also supports the dragging and dropping of files to transfer between devices.

On specs, the vivo X Fold5 has a 8.03-inch 2,480 x 2,200 inner screen and a 6.53-inch 2,748 x 1,172 outer screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and at least in the Chinese market, there’s a choice of 12GB or 16GB of memory and a range from 256GB to 1TB of storage space. Powering the device is a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.

Things are pretty uniform on the imaging department, as the vivo X Fold5 sports three 50MP shooters at the back – one main, one wide-angle and one periscope zoom – and a 20MP unit on each screen. Rounding things out is an IP59 rating, or perhaps more specifically IPX8 and IPX9 for water resistance, and IP5X for dust resistance.

The vivo X Fold5 has a price range of RMB6,999 (~RM4,112) to RMB9,499 (~RM5,592) in its home market, depending on the memory and storage configuration. No word on a local release just yet, though if it does happen, it would likely be after the launch of the X200 FE, which is launching locally on 30 June at the earliest.
