Zeekr and Carro have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, in which, Carro becomes an authorised dealership for the automaker in Malaysia. Through this agreement, Carro, for the first time will begin offering brand new EV cars for its customers.
According to Alex Bao, Managing Director of Zeekr Southeast Asia, this agreement allows the automaker to expand its presence in Malaysia. He also added that, this partnership would enhance both the company’s sales network and after-sales capabilities.
Currently, there are three Zeekr showrooms, known as Zeekr Space, situated in Petaling Jaya and IOI Mall Puchong. Additionally, another three new authorised Carro Care workshops and four new Zeekr Space (in Juru Autocity, Klang Valley and Seremban) are planned to be established soon.
According to Carro, this agreement allows Zeekr users to look forward to standard dealer warranty. They will also be getting Carro’s services, which include financing, aftersales and insurance services with Genie Financial Services, Carro Care and Coverro respectively.
These services, especially servicing and aftersales, play an important role in the EV industry. According to Ernest Chew, the Chief Financial Officer at Carro, many people do not realise that an EV vehicle still requires a lot of maintenance.
Speaking to us after the memorandum signing at the Carro outlet in South Puchong, he explained, “So, for example, your tyres for an EV, they wear out faster because the battery are heavier. You still need to change your battery. You still need to change your wipers. You still need to change various things.” He also mentioned that Carro will serve as an authorised partner for Zeekr models, with trained mechanics to carry out the necessary repairs.
Zeekr made its debut in Malaysia in 2024 with two models: the 009 and the X model. The 009 comes in two variants – Luxury and Ultra Luxury – with a starting price of RM349,000. The X Crossover SUV also comes in two variants – Premium and Flagship – with a starting price of RM115,800.
On the other hand, the Zeekr 7X, which was previewed at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025), is set to debut within Q3 of this year. Customers can pre-book the SUV now at Carro’s official website. It comes in three variants with a starting price of RM182,000.
