OPPO has officially released a new addition to its A series, the A5i, for the local market. Among the main highlights of this budget-friendly smartphone include its durability and long-lasting battery.
The A5i sports a 6.67-inch 1604 × 720p LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. According to OPPO, the front and back of the phone are protected by twice-reinforced China Southern Glass and Panda Glass. The device comes with an IP54 rating for splash resistance, as well as a MIL-STD-810H rating for drop resistance. It also sports a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Internally, the phone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen1 chipset, paired with your choice of either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, along with 128GB of storage. Powering the entry-level smartphone is a 5,100mAh battery with support for 45W charging. The battery is also claimed to retain at least 80% capacity after four years. For software, the A5i runs on ColorOS 14.0, which is built on Android 14. As for connectivity, the smartphone supports 4G, WiFi 5, as well as Bluetooth 5.0.
On the optics side, it gets a pretty basic 8MP main camera, as well as a 5MP front-facing punch-hole camera. For video recording, both cameras are limited to 1080p at 30fps, with the selfie camera recording 720p by default.

The A5i comes in two space-inspired colourways, Starry Purple and Nebula Red. The base 4GB + 128GB version is priced at RM399, while the 6GB + 128GB configuration is available for a slightly higher price of RM499. It is worth noting that the A5i does have a Pro variant, but it is not available locally.
