Toyota launched the bZ5 coupe SUV in China, which is offered in four variants. This car is the result of Toyota’s partnership with the Chinese automaker FAW, hence it features some key components from BYD.
In terms of design, the car features a sharp C-shaped headlights that is connected to a thin strip of LED light bar, and has a sloping rear design that gives it a coupe-like appearance. Other features include hidden door handles and 21-inch wheels.

Built on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, the bZ5 measures 4,780 mm long, 1,866 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,880mm. With these dimensions, the car is expected to have ample cabin space, as it is larger than the Toyota bZ4X.
Inside, the cabin has a minimalist design, featuring a 15.6-inch floating infotainment display and a digital driver’s instrument cluster. Additional features include a panoramic glass roof, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, and a “one-touch lie-flat” function for the front seats, complete with “Nap Modes” for quick rests.

The cabin also features gesture controls, voice commands and Toyota Pilot, an advanced driver-assistance system. With up to 33 sensors—including a LiDAR unit on higher trims—Toyota Pilot enables capabilities like hands-free navigation through city streets.
The Toyota bZ5 is powered by a single front-mounted motor that produces 200 kW and 330 Nm of torque which allows it to reach 0 to 50 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The motor is powered by BYD’s lithium-iron-phosphate Blade Battery which also comes with two options.

Buyers can choose between a 65.28 kWh battery with a 550 km CLTC range or a 73.984 kWh battery with a 630 km CLTC range. The SUV supports fast charging at up to 90 kW, enabling a charge from 30% to 80% in 29 minutes.
As mentioned above, the car is offered in four variants with a starting price of CNY129,800 (~RM76,561) for the base model. The top-spec variant is priced at CNY159,800 (~RM94,256), while the other two trims cost CNY139,800 (~RM82,460) and CNY149,800 (~RM88,358) respectively. There’s no word of an international release for the Toyota bz5 at this time.
