The upcoming vivo X Fold 5 has had some of its specs leaked over time building up to its rumoured July launch. It is also already registered locally, appearing in the SIRIM database. With all that in mind, the brand has started its own teaser campaign, trickling bits of info on the device to the Chinese public via Weibo. But one particular claims about the foldable is that it can work with Apple devices, including the Watch Series 9 and Macs, as well as getting direct iCloud access.
This comes via the account of vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, who has made these claims in a series of posts. One is that, as mentioned, that the X Fold5 can work with the Apple Watch, with an image showing the wearable forwarding a call from the Android device. The post itself notes that this also works with messages and health data.

In another post, the exec says that the vivo X Fold5 can also be used as an external display for a MacBook, as well as suggesting remote control capabilities, plus supporting AirPods. Then in yet another post, the exec claims that the phone can connect directly to iCloud, commonly “the biggest obstacle” preventing people from moving away from the Apple walled garden onto Android, according to a machine translation of the post.
It all sounds pretty impressive, though it is still pretty surprising that Apple would allow and Android device this level of access into its ecosystem. Hopefully the company expands on the way it works when it launches the vivo X Fold5 beyond its own home market.
