WWDC 2025 is almost upon us, and Apple is expected to reveal the new versions of its operating systems, which are characterised by an extensive visual overhaul. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the updated design will feature “Liquid Glass” UI elements with translucent visuals. The change will be coming to the next iteration of iOS, which is likely to be called iOS 26.
With the UI overhaul, users can probably anticipate the use of see-through, glassy materials and specular highlights. These shiny elements will likely be seen across all standard iPhone UI controls like buttons, toolbars, as well as in-app interfaces. 9to5Mac also claimed that the overhaul will extend to the home screen app icons. The icons will reportedly be redesigned to have a more rounded shape. Additionally, the borders of the icons will feature reflective highlights.

Apparently, Apple is looking to unify its operating systems and make them more consistent, as the changes will not be limited to iOS. The new Liquid Glass UI elements and updated icons will also be coming to macOS, watchOS, iPadOS, tvOS, as well as CarPlay, although some aspects like layouts and navigation will be suited for each device. The redesign should provide the user with a more streamlined experience.
In addition to this, the new UI will supposedly match the upcoming 20th anniversary iPhone. The phone, which is internally known as “Glasswing”, will apparently come with an all-screen design with curved edges. It will also have no cutout section in the screen, and instead use an under-display front camera.
