Garmin has a rich library of fitness-orientated smartwatches, including the long-running Forerunner series. The brand has launched new additions to the range, which are the Forerunner 570 and 970, which were first announced in the middle of last month for other markets. Joining them are the HRM 200 and HRM 600 chest straps as well.

Starting with the watches, the Garmin Forerunner 570 has an aluminium bezel over its 1.2- or 1.4-inch display, depending on if you pick the 42mm or 47mm model. The 970, on the other hand, only comes in one 47mm size. Either way, the display on all three options feature what the brand calls its brightest AMOLED displays, but stopped short of providing a nits figure. Both 570 variants also share a weight of 50g, while the 970 weighs in at 56g.

For their battery life, the smaller Garmin Forerunner 570 lasts up to 10 days on smartwatch mode, or up to 13 hours on multi-band GPS mode. The larger model pushed these numbers up to 13 days and 14 hours, and for the 970, these are 15 days and 21 hours respectively. All of them come with built-in speakers and a microphone.

As you’d expect, the Garmin Forerunner 570 and 970 won’t be what they are without a plethora of health tracking capabilities. All of them get the brand’s Triathlon Coach training plan, custom multisport workouts, auto lap by timing gates and suggested finish line, as well as skin temperature tracking. But exclusive to the 970 are things like running tolerance and economy, ECG monitoring via the app, step speed loss and a flashlight functionality.

Despite the size difference, both models of the Garmin Forerunner 570 are priced at RM2,399. The Forerunner 970, on the other hand, costs RM3,269. Both will be available starting 16 June.

If you’re looking for something more direct with your performance tracking, we move on to the chest straps, the HRM 200 and HRM 600. That being said, they are made to be used with the smartwatches, as they are bade with the ability to transmit real-time heart rate and HRV data to compatible Garmin smartwatches, in addition to the brand’s Connect app.

While both can track running and swimming stats, the latter takes things further with sports like basketball and football, as well as other unspecified activities where wearing a smartwatch is not practical. The former comes with a battery life rated for up to a year, while the latter features a rechargeable pack that’s good for two months per charge.

Rounding things out, The Garmin HRM 200 and HRM 600 are priced at RM349 and RM739 respectively. They will be available starting 11 July, so quite a bit later than the Forerunners.
