The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite kicked off the wave of ARM-based Windows laptops. It’s no real surprise that the company is working on the next generation of laptop chips, and thanks to serial leakster Roland Quandt, we now know a bit of what it entails. This includes a simple, but maybe not necessarily as intuitive, name of the Snapdragon X2 Elite.
As shared on Bluesky, Quandt claims that the new chip sports a model number of SC8480XP, with the chipset “looking like [an] 18 core thing more and more”. Also being claimed is that the chip has been seeing “in testing with 64GB RAM”, though the average user on a Snapdragon laptop will probably need that much memory.

According to TechSpot, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite was previously rumoured to feature 48GB of RAM by SK Hynix, as well as 1TB of onboard SSD storage. No new figure of storage capacities being pushed, but thanks to the leak we now know that more memory is possible on the upcoming chip.
The report also claims that the Snapdragon X2 Elite is slated for unveiling in September, at the company’s Qualcomm Summit. Considering there’s still plenty of time until then, there’s equally plenty fo opportunities for further leaks until the official unveiling.
