It will still be a while before the Xiaomi 16 makes its debut, but leaks have already been circulating. Known leakster Digital Chat Station shared some of the key specifications of the upcoming smartphone on Weibo, including details on its chipset, camera setup, and battery capacity.
The device will allegedly run on a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which has not been announced yet. Qualcomm is expected to reveal the new chipset at this year’s Snapdragon Summit in September. If the leak proves to be accurate, the Xiaomi 16 may be the first phone to feature the SoC.
Another notable claim is the battery, which will supposedly have a capacity of over 6,500mAh. For reference, the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 15 comes with a 5,400mAh battery, so this means that the Xiaomi 16 would be getting quite the upgrade.
On the optics side, the device will reportedly get a trio of 50MP sensors comprising a 1/1.3-inch main camera, an ultra-wide lens, as well as a telephoto lens with macro support. Aside from that, the smartphone will supposedly feature a 6.3-inch flat OLED display with thin bezels and run on Android 16-based HyperOS 3.0.
Naturally, none of this information comes from an official source, so the phone’s actual specs may differ. The Xiaomi 16 series could be announced after the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 reveal, meaning it will be a few months before we hear anything concrete. As for the availability of the smartphones, the regular variant will be released for the global market, while the Pro model is likely to remain a China exclusive.
