OnePlus recently announced that it will be going all-in on AI, with the launch of the OnePlus 13s. As part of the embrace, one major change to the phone will be the introduction of the Plus Key, which also serves as the replacement for the long-used Alert Slider.

In essence, the Plus Key is a shortcut button, similar to the iPhone Action Button. Upon pressing it, users will be given access to the new OnePlus Mind Space. As with all AI assistants, the feature scans the contents of your screen for information, finds dates or events and adds them to your calendar, and so on. These then get saved and sorted within the Mind Space.
Other AI features that OnePlus will be launching include the VoiceScribe, which can record, summarise, and translate calls from different messaging and video chat apps such as WhatsApp. Foreign language videos will also be translated in real-time. For the Indian market, AI Call Assistant will also offer the option for automatic call summaries or real-time call translation, if the calls are made within the OnePlus Dialer.

There is also an AI Translation app that allows text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation, and AI Search, which can help you search for information on your phone using natural language. For various photo editing, OnePlus is bringing AI Reframe to the Photos app, as well as the AI Best Face 2.0 feature.
Additionally, there will be an increase in its integration with Google Gemini, which will be able to work across OxygenOS apps, and Gemini Live can be supported with camera and screen sharing. The company will also prioritise on-device processing for sensitive data, and only reach out to the Private Computing Cloud when additional power is needed. The OnePlus 13S is expected to launch on 5 June.
