Fujifilm has announced a very unique new digital camera called the X Half, which is inspired by half-frame cameras. The most interesting thing about this camera is, without a doubt, that it shoots stills and videos in a vertical format.
The X Half features an 18MP 1-inch 3:4 CMOS sensor with a 10.8mm f/2.8 FUJINON prime lens that has a focusing ring. It comes with two LCD touch screens, with one dedicated for its film simulation modes, a frame advance lever, an exposure dial, an SD memory card slot, a USB-C port for charging, file transferring, and audio monitoring, a built-in flash, and an optical viewfinder.

Users can enable Film Camera Mode, which is meant to simulate shooting with a 36, 54, or 72-shot roll of film, which will disable the display previews until you “finish” the roll, forcing you to purely rely on the viewfinder. The pictures will only be visible after you finished the roll and developed them using the Fujifilm app or transferred them to your computer.

To give you options, the X Half is packed with 13 film simulations and 26 filters to choose from, including Velvia, Classic Chrome, and Acros, along with the ability to adjust the graininess, light leak, and more. On top of that, there is a 2-in-1 shooting mode that lets you combine a still image on one side and a video on the other. The company claims that the camera can take up to 880 frames on a single charge.

The Fujifilm X Half is available for pre-order in Malaysia from 22 May until 12 June with a price tag of RM3,398. Once you pre-order, you will not be able to cancel or change the colour, with the brand promising to ship it out within three months.
