Rapid KL has announced that it will be extending its morning and evening peak-hour rail operations by an hour from 23 to 27 May 2025, in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit that is taking place in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Additionally, train frequencies on 24 and 25 May will be increased to accommodate the expected rise in passenger count.

In a statement released today, Prasarana explained that during the ASEAN Summit, the morning peak-hour operations will run from 6.30AM to 10AM, while the evening peak-hour operations will run from 4.30PM until 8PM. As for the weekend, trains on the Ampang / Sri Petaling line will run every four minutes instead of the usual five, while trains on the Kelana Jaya line will run at a five-minute frequency instead of seven. Furthermore, the Rapid KL monorail service, as well as Kajang and Putrajaya LRT lines will run every eight minutes instead of the usual ten.

Rapid KL will also increase monitoring and operational control to ensure the transport service runs smoothly during the summit. An additional 400 staff will also be deployed at certain rail stations to assist passengers and ASEAN delegates. Prasarana also stated that it is ready to further increase the number of trains if necessary.

On the other hand, bus routes are expected to encounter delays due to the road closures during this period. The affected routes include Route 402 (Titiwangsa LRT – Maluri LRT), Route 302 (Titiwangsa LRT – KLCC), Route 300 (Hab Pandan Indah – Lebuh Ampang), Route 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya – Lebuh Ampang), and Rapid KL On-Demand (Titiwangsa Zone – Chow Kit). Passengers seeking to travel to KLCC and surrounding locations are advised to use rail services to avoid traffic congestion. Available rail stations include KLCC Station (Kelana Jaya Line), KLCC Persiaran Station (Putrajaya Line), Raja Chulan Station (KL Monorail), Conlay Station (Putrajaya Line) and Bukit Bintang Station (Kajang Line and the KL Monorail).

Passengers are further advised to plan their journeys ahead of time, stay updated through Rapid KL’s social media platforms or PULSE app, and consider using alternative services like rail transport. Moreover, city dwellers are encouraged to make use of public transport services to ease movement to key areas while ensuring smooth traffic throughout the conference.
