There will be major road closures across Klang Valley in conjunction with the ASEAN Summit 2025, which is set to occur on 26 and 27 May. A total of six major highways and 25 main roads will be closed in stages from 23 to 28 May. The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, states that these include roads leading to KLCC, KLIA, Subang Air Force Base, Istana Negara, and hotels for foreign delegates.

Among the affected highways include the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE Expressway), Maju Expressway (MEX), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), KL-Seremban Expressway, North-South Expressway, and the Guthrie Corridor Expressway. Major city roads including Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Bukit Bintang, and Jalan Parlimen will also be impacted.

Traffic control is stated to begin 30 minutes before each convoy, and the road closures and diversions will be conducted in stages between 8am and 8pm daily during the ASEAN Summit. A rehearsal will be conducted on 21 May and 22 May involving motorcades, venue security, and pool duties. According to Mohd Yusri, a total of 789 personnel will be deployed throughout the summit. “JSPT personnel will handle various duties, including VVIP motorcade escorts and traffic control”.

The public is advised to avoid routes involved in the closures and diversions, and opt for public transport instead. “We also advise using public transport. Commercial vehicles are prohibited from entering the city centre during peak hours, from 6:30am to 7:30am and 4:30pm to 7:30pm”. Mohd Yusri also stated that vehicles parked haphazardly that block traffic will be towed.
