A report from The Elec has emerged, claiming that Samsung will be equipping its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy G Fold with titanium back plates. The latter phone is slated to be the brand’s first tri-fold model.
As per the report, Samsung will be using titanium for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and G Fold in order to ensure durability while still reducing its thickness. A titanium backplate was also featured on last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6 FE, which was only launched in China and South Korea. The Elec also states that the phone’s digitiser may be removed, which was first introduced in the Galaxy Z Fold3.

Besides its alleged slim design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 has had quite a number of its purported specs leaked. So far, it has been reported to come housing a triple camera setup at its back, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It’s also been suspected to pack a battery with a typical capacity of 4,400mAh.
As for the Galaxy G Fold, it may possibly resemble a prototype called the Flex G, which was revealed by Samsung back in 2022. It could have a 9.96-inch screen, and a similar weight as the Huawei Mate XT. It may also receive a limited release in China and South Korea alone, though these remain rumours and speculation until the company makes an official announcement.
