Earlier in the year, Nothing teased the possibility that it was working on its first over-ear headphones, by giving an official-sounding name to a fan design. Over the weekend, the brand posted a video on YouTube confirming that it is in fact working on such an audio product.
The video itself is a discussion of sorts with the design team at Nothing, which is just under four minutes of talking about making a product that punches above its weight – or price range, technically. The Apple AirPods Max was brought up as a point of comparison, with the team claiming that its own product will not only sound better, but also hinting as it potentially costing half the price of the bitten fruit brand’s offering.
Ultimately the video is devoid of concrete details; even the mention of a price was muted. But it did end with the claim that these headphones will be out in summer, which is between late June and late September. This could coincide with the launch of the Nothing Phone (3), which company CEO Carl Pei has confirmed to be launching in Q3 of the year.
It’s also worth noting that fellow British brand KEF announced a partnership with Nothing about a week ago, though the post on the brand’s official blog is equally devoid of details. It does mention that further details will be shared in the coming months, but it’s unclear at this time if the pair of headphones is what the collaboration between the two is all about.
