MG Malaysia has announced the launch of the MG S5 EV, which first appearance at the recent Malaysia Autoshow (MAS 2025), on its social media platforms. The automaker also announced the estimated starting price to be around RM115,000.
The MG S5 comes in two variants: Com and Lux. In terms of design, both variants feature a closed-off grille and sharp LED headlights with ‘Racing Flag’-themed DRLs. At the rear, it features full-width LED lights that blend with tail lights designed to resemble fangs. Other features include a roof spoiler and a diffuser-like bumper. The interior of the S5 SUV is equipped with a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and MG’s iSmart app connectivity.
The Lux variant adds several premium features, including a panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated leather steering wheel, a wireless phone charging pad, six speakers, a powered tailgate, and a 360-degree surround view camera. On the safety front, it comes with a comprehensive ADAS suite, which includes features such as automatic high beam assistance.
In terms of powertrain, the Com variant features 49 kWh and 62 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that have a WLTP range of 340 km and 430 km respectively. Meanwhile, the Lux variant comes with the 62 kWh battery. All models come with a rear motor that has an output of 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
As mentioned above, the estimated price of the car is RM115,000. The launch is happening next week on 20 May 2025 at Mid Valley Megamall and it will be showcased to the public until 25 May 2025.
