Maxim has issued a formal statement in response to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD)’s recent directive ordering the e-hailing platform, alongside inDrive, to halt operations in Malaysia starting 24 July 2025. The company says it is currently engaging with the relevant authorities to resolve the matter and clarify its position, while continuing operations nationwide.
In its statement, Maxim said it is working closely with its users, partners, vendors and other stakeholders to provide clarity on the situation. The company emphasised that public safety has always been a top priority, and that all its services are designed to ensure comfort and security for users.

Maxim explained that it operates under an intermediate license and serves as a platform connecting partner drivers, service providers and users. It added that all partner drivers are subject to a thorough inspection process carried out by its appointed officers, who verify compliance with e-hailing requirements set by APAD and the Ministry of Transport. It emphasised that this is part of its corporate transparency and commitment to safe transport services.
The company also highlighted its ongoing efforts to contribute to Malaysia’s economy and society. This includes working with local driving schools to help new drivers obtain their Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license and collaborating with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to ensure awareness of traffic regulations among partner drivers.

As part of its platform’s accessibility features, Maxim noted that its technology supports OKU (persons with disabilities) users and aims to foster an inclusive e-hailing ecosystem. The company stressed its intention to remain fully compliant with Malaysian law and reiterated its willingness to work with government authorities to resolve any outstanding issues.
Meanwhile, inDrive previously stated it is in active discussions with APAD. In response to our query, a company representative confirmed that its operations are continuing as usual at this time.
