After much teasing, Honda Malaysia finally launched its first ever battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e:N1, for a price tag of RM149,900. Locally, it is offered in a single configuration, available in Platimum White Pear, Aqua Topaz Metallic and Urban Grey Pearl colour options.
The e:n1, which is based on Honda’s e:N Architecture F platform, keeps the HR-V’s design while adding EV-specific elements including an L-shaped front bumper trim, flat white Honda badging, LED headlights and taillights, and a closed-off grille with an integrated charging connector. The crossover is equipped with 225/50R18 tyres and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels.
Inside, the car features a 10.25-inch TFT driver’s display and a 15.1-inch portrait displayed infotainment system. It integrates a three-section touchscreen panel, with the top panel containing the essential infotainment features, including Wireless Apple CarPlay, Wired Android Auto Connectivity and a Navigation System.
Meanwhile, the middle section provides access to vehicle status information and audio controls, while the bottom section features air conditioning settings. The car also features a cargo space of 334 litres.
As for the powertrain, the Honda e:N1 BEV is powered by a 68.8kWh lithium-ion battery with an output of 150kW and 310Nm of torque. The SUV has a 500km NEDC range while it supports up to 78kW for DC charging, which takes 50 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. As for AC charging, it supports up to 10kW, with 10% to 80% charging taking six hours.
In terms of safety, the e:n1 comes with a range of standard safety features. In addition to that, it also features Honda Sensing, which includes Blind Spot Information (BSI) with Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), a feature currently exclusive to this BEV.
The BEV comes with an eight-year or 160,000km warranty (whichever comes first) on the electric battery and drive system. Moreover, with Honda Insurance Plus, customers benefit from damage coverage caused by public EV chargers, coverage for loss or damage to the portable charging cable, and personal liability coverage for bodily injury or damage to third-party property arising from the use of the EV home wall charger.
As we reported before, the Honda e:n1 BEV will only be available from eight dealerships in Peninsular Malaysia. These include Accord Auto, HZN Cars and Tiong Nam Motor in Selangor, Peringgit Sri Motor in Kuala Lumpur, Ban Hoe Seng Auto in Perak, Vivahill Auto in Penang, Ban Lee Heng Motor in Negeri Sembilan, and finally Kah Motor Co in Tebrau, Johor.
