In the midst of its launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is apparently already in the early stages of the development of the Galaxy S26 lineup. One of the suspected strategies of the upcoming phone series has been revealed, which involves the Edge variant. According to recent reports, the brand might be replacing its Plus model within the series with the Galaxy S26 Edge instead.

As per a machine translation of a report by The Elec, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is currently being developed under the project name “NPA”. There will apparently be three phones in the series: the vanilla model, the Edge, and the Ultra. The Galaxy S25 series has the Plus variant, which has been said to be the weakest performer within the series. One of Samsung’s solutions to that is to reportedly replace it with the Edge phone in the succeeding lineup.

The Galaxy S25 Plus only accounts for 6.7 million units out of the 37.7 million units of the series targeted to ship out. The base variant, in comparison, is targeted at 13.6 million, with Samsung allocating 17.4 million units for the Ultra.

The sale of the S25 Edge model is said to be a variable in the making of the Galaxy S26 lineup. In the event it proves itself unpopular in the market, there is a chance it could be removed from the upcoming phone series, with the incumbent Plus model remaining. A Samsung insider states that four types of OLED panels are being developed for the upcoming series, though no official confirmation has been released yet.
