Samsung recently announced the Odyssey OLED G6, a gaming monitor that it is touting as the world’s first OLED gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate.
“Samsung continues to lead the gaming monitor industry with breakthrough innovations that redefine how games are experienced,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the Odyssey OLED G6, the world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor, we are pushing gaming performance, visual quality and immersion to entirely new heights — delivering the next evolution of display technology for gamers around the world.”

Other specs for the Odyssey OLED G6 include a maximum resolution of QHD (2,560 x 1,440) and a 0.03ms GTG response time. One point to take note of is that despite being called an OLED monitor, the panel technology is actually using Samsung’s QD-OLED technology. Moving on, the monitor is also a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified monitor, and is a both an NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro monitor.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 will be available first in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore, before being rolled out to the global market later this year. It retails at US$1,688 (~RM7,298) but Samsung is currently having a promotion of sorts as the official product page lists the monitor’s pricing at US$1,488 (~RM6,434). At the time of writing, local pricing still hasn’t been announced.
