It looks like the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones have been outed in all their glory. Product renders of the headphones were obtained by The Walkman Blog, and shows the products in three colour schemes and more importantly, sporting a foldable design.
It’s safe to say that the leaked renders fully confirm that Sony is reverting to the foldable chassis with the WH-1000XM6, a design that was last seen with the WH-1000XM4. This also means that the WH-1000XM5 is likely to be Sony’s first and only premium wireless headphones to ship out with a non-foldable design.
Beyond that, the images also show off some subtle changes to buttons. The power button, specifically, looks rounder and more flush to the earcup’s surface. And while there is no direct view of the volume rocker but there you can partially see the “+” and “-” symbols in one of them. The earcups also sport a seamless look too; by comparison, the seams of the WH-1000XM5 are more pronounced.
The images also show the WH-1000XM6 in its folded state and packed into its carrying case. Sony is clearly recycling the case design it introduced with the WH-1000XM5, just with the obvious changes made to accommodate the foldable nature.
The Walkman Blog also managed to get the launch date of the WH-1000XM6 globally. It’s set for 16 May, which lines up with earlier rumours that Sony was indeed planning to launch its premium wireless headphones sometime this month.
