Last year, Maybank announced the addition of a 12-hour cooling-off period for adjustments to online transfer limits. Soon, the bank will be doing the same for reload services, including mobile prepaid plan reloads and game credits with PIN. This naturally also means that these transactions will also get limits when the change takes effect.
Per the announcement of the bank’s site, when these changes take effect, reload services will have a default daily transaction limit of RM200. This can be changed to a maximum of RM500 a day, but any changes made will incur a 12-hour cooling-off period. For the duration of said period, the old limit will remain in place. Maybank says that you will be notified via the MAE app as well as email when the cooling-off period starts and ends.
Maybank says that this change “is in line with our continued efforts to enhance the security of your transactions and ensure a safer online banking experience”. Which is similar to the reasoning of the prior change, which was “to curb banking fraud”.
As before, changing these limits is done via Maybank2u web. Once you’ve logged in, navigate to Settings, and look for Reload Limit under Pay & Transfer. Select the new limit via the dropdown menu and approve the change via Secure2u. These new limits will come into effect starting 26 May 2025.
