We previously reported that Chery’s sub-brand iCAUR (or iCAR in China) will be entering the Malaysia during the Malaysia Auto Show 2025 (MAS). The brand has since confirmed the news through a teaser poster shared on their social media channels, which also features a silhouette of the vehicle it plans to introduce to the local market. Based on what’s shown, we believe the model in question is likely the iCAUR 03 EV.

This assumption is based on the distinctive stacked headlight design, which closely matches the iCAUR 03. According to Paultan.org, the same vehicle was recently spotted undergoing road tests in Malaysia earlier this month.

The iCAUR 03 features a boxy, rugged design, reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender. Its bold styling gives it a strong road presence and a unique identity that’s easy to recognise.

The model is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants, both powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The RWD version is equipped with a 184 PS motor producing 220 Nm of torque, and comes with two battery options: 50.63 kWh (offering a 401 km range) or 65.69 kWh (with a 501 km range).

The AWD variant adds a 95 PS front motor, bringing the combined output to 279 PS (205 kW) and 385 Nm of torque. Battery options for the AWD version include 65.69 kWh and 69.77 kWh, both offering a range of up to 501 km.

All variants have dual-zone automatic air conditioning, tyre pressure monitoring, ESP, a 15.6-inch central control panel, an 8-speaker sound system, automated headlights, automatic wipers, a roof rack, rear external storage and an electronic parking brake. Mid-range options comes with features like Folding side mirrors, a 1.2-meter-square panoramic sunroof, an NFC key, 50W wireless charging, a panoramic image, an electronic trunk lid and a Qualcomm 8155 processor to handle the in-car amenities. Meanwhile, high-end variants offer heated steering wheel, seat heating, memory function, electric passenger seat, side curtain airbags, a 12-speaker sound system, 64-color ambient lighting and driver’s seat massage.

Of course, it is too early to tell whether all or only some of the iCAUR 03 variants will be coming to Malaysia. It’s even possible that the ones offered locally will come with different equipment entirely. Whatever the case may be, we’ll have to wait till mid-May to find out more regarding the EV – especially how much it will cost.
