ShopeePay, the standalone app spun from Shopee, has added a new security feature called Tap Secure. Available from 25 April, the feature is similar to the tap-to-verify security mechanisms we have seen in other e-wallets and bank apps.
Tap Secure provides an additional layer of security for every transaction on ShopeePay. When you want to make a transaction with the e-wallet, you will need to approve or deny it within two minutes, meaning that no purchases can be made without your knowledge.
To activate the feature, you only need to go into the “Me” page on the ShopeePay app and complete your personal verification to link your device. Only one device can be linked at a time so if you are changing phones, make sure to unlink your old device in the settings.
Of course, you are advised to enable push notifications for the ShopeePay app so that you can be notified of any incoming transactions. To learn more, you can check out Shopee’s website.
