Samsung has unveiled a new mid-range smartphone from the M series called the Galaxy M56. The latest device does not get a lot of internal upgrades compared to its predecessor, but it does come in a new 7.2mm thick chassis, which the company claims is the slimmest phone in this segment.
The Galaxy M56 gets a 6.74-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an unspecified peak brightness rating. Under the hood, it runs on the brand’s in-house Exynos 1480 chip which supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3. For protection, the screen is fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, but there seems to be no IP rating for dust and water resistance.

On the imaging side, it gets the same rear setup as last year with a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens, although the front snapper has been downgraded to a 12MP sensor. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W charging, which is a notable step-down from the M54‘s 6,000mAh capacity.

The Samsung Galaxy M56 will retail in India with a starting price of INR25,000 (~RM1,288). As of writing, the tech giant has not announced plans for the new phone’s global availability, although you should take note that last year’s Galaxy M55 never made it to Malaysia.
