OPPO is set to bring in the vanilla model from the A5 series to Malaysia soon, following its launch of the A5 Pro lineup here. The base variant, which was introduced in China last month, has made an appearance on the SIRIM database, indicating that its local arrival is nearing.
The OPPO A5 5G was listed on the database with the model number CPH2735 on 3 April 2025. The base model also supports 5G and comes with a larger battery, but at the cost of a slower charging speed. Of course, the global version of the A5 Pro 5G varied significantly from its Chinese counterpart, so it is possible that the vanilla model could receive the same treatment.

For reference, the A5 5G in China sports a 6.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a global peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Under the hood, it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset with support for 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. Protection-wise, it comes with an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance along with shock resistance.

On the imaging side, the entry-level smartphone is fitted with a 50MP main camera, a depth sensor, and an 8MP front shooter. Powering it is a gigantic 6,500mAh cell with support for 45W charging.
