Digital insurer Tune Protect today officially announced its partnership with ticketing platform Ticket2U and introduced Malaysia’s first Ticket Refund Insurance plan for events. The new plan, which was initially unveiled in February this year, promises a full refund for ticket holders who are unable to attend the events due to unforeseen circumstances.
The plan covers a comprehensive range of events, including conferences, marathons, runs, concerts, festivals as well as sports events. Among the situations covered by the plan are medical emergencies, accidental death, home emergencies such as fires or burglaries, natural disasters and unemployment. Additionally, the coverage includes road accidents and vehicle breakdowns on the way to the event. For those attending sports-related events, there is an optional add-on called Sports PA (Personal Accident Insurance), which offers financial protection for accidental injuries during these events.
The insurance is available to all Ticket2U purchasing event tickets and costs 5% of the ticket price. Note that customers must opt in for the Ticket Refund Insurance after selecting their event ticket. Once they complete the purchase, the coverage is automatically activated. The claims process is also straightforward, as the customer only has to submit a claim directly to Tune Protect with the relevant documentation. The eligible funds will then be issued after the claim is processed.
Tune Protect CEO Jubin Mehta said that the Ticket Refund Insurance is a game-changer for eventgoers, giving them the confidence to purchase tickets without worrying about their plans being disrupted by the unexpected. Meanwhile, Ticket2U managing director YC Chia stated that the protection offered by the insurance assures ticket buyers that they will be covered while reinforcing the trust between event organisers and attendees.
